| The Wrestler (Darren Aronofsky) I'd never heard of this but apparently it's just scooped the Golden Lion for best film.
Randy "Ram" Robinson (Mickey Rourke) is a professional wrestler from the 1980s who is forced to retire after a heart attack threatens to kill him the next time he wrestles. He takes a job at a deli, moves in with an aging stripper (Marisa Tomei) and attempts to form a relationship with her son. However, he is drawn to the prospect of a rematch with his old wrestling nemesis the Ayatollah, even though the fight may cost him his life.
Co starring Ernest 'The Cat' Miller as The Ayatollah. I shit you not.

| Re: The Wrestler (Darren Aronofsky) I've heard a lot of good things about this, which I'm surprised about as it's not exactly a highly respected market. for anyone interested, heres some more info: BBC News/Entertainment and a review at Aint It Cool News
From what I've read thus far it does read like a few stories form the Beyond the Mat documentary reflecting a few of the wrestlers who couldn't leave the spotlight... and the father/daughter relationship seems a bit like that of Jake Roberts and his daughter which has the potential to make a good film... and make up for previous wrestling based released such as Nacho Libre and Royal Rumble.
Slightly unsure about seeing Ernest Miller in the film though... apparently Necro Butcher (US indy wrestler) and a couple of others are there too.

| Re: The Wrestler (Darren Aronofsky) And it's got a brand spanking new Bruce Springsteen song as it's title track.
You can get a crappy recording some one made of it at the cinema here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MPA26YYM |

| Re: The Wrestler (Darren Aronofsky) Really looking forward to this.
Aronofsky may not always be great, but he's certainly always interesting. Same goes for Rourke.

| Re: The Wrestler (Darren Aronofsky) I am moist with anticipation.
Can't believe I only just learned Springsteen and Rourke are pals. Man, that'd be some piss-up.

| Re: The Wrestler (Darren Aronofsky) I’m such an Aronofsky fan that I’ll watch this even though it’s about wrestling.
