| 21 grams I saw it this morning at the GFT and I was really impressed
It's the new Alejandro Inarritu film with Sean Penn, Naomi Watts, and Benicio Del Toro.
The main characters are brought together by a car crash. Watts plays Christina, whose family are run over by reformed ex-con Jack (Del Toro), and Penn's character Paul, desperately in need of a donor, gets Christina's husband's heart.
Pretty intense but I'd definitely recommend going to see it.
Anyone planning on going?

| Re: 21 grams I liked it.
It's depressing, there is absolutely no relief. Sean Penn was fuckin amazing, as was Del Toro.
The chick had HUGE nipples, I couldn't see past this.
It's really choppy, almost like Memento.
Memento meets Magnolia.

^^^^^^^?!?!?!?!?!?! sjshdjdnas
Marvels of nature! Couldve taken someone's eye out quite easily I'd wager.
The mor eI think about it the more I liked this film. Wouldn't go and see it again or anything but aye. First half hour was quite tedious cos I wasn't expecting the time-frame to be quite so choppy...I don't really see what the film gained from it. But aye, it was alright. I didn't think Naomi Watts was very convincing though, not Oscar-nomination-worthy though. |

In fact, I didn't find it overly arty at all, and I'm usually on the lookout for that.

You try not to have preconceptions about films and film-makers, especially those from abroad -like they wont be able to translate their ideas well to another audience- and if it's unconventionally shot etc, (or shown at the GFT!) but you always have a stereotype in your head.
I thought I'd hate it but there you go.

Memento meets Magnolia. | agreed, especially about the nipples. saw it this afternoon and was rather impressed, it takes a while to get fully into it but once you do it's incredibly engrossing and very edgy. a lot of people might be put off by the kind of cut/paste plot techniques, but it reflected the whole air of disillusionment and disorientation that went on throughout the movie, and it was carried off pretty well too. a big (as naomi watts nipples) thumbs up!
