ewan mcgregor, nick nolte, patricia arquette and josh brolin in 1997 - was actually quite a good film, although this russian one (three) looks really interesting.

The original Danish version (from '94) of Nightwatch was even better, the Ewan McGregor one was a remake by the same director.

But none of the other films have anything to do with the film I'm talking about apart from the shared names.

So its seems if you call a film nightwatch or Ночной Дозор Its going to be pish.

Some nice ideas though so I'm hopefull for the second one.

just watched this, and i was pretty impressed. tis a bit hard to follow at first (thats what i get for watching it in russian with english subtitles) but very good.

the product placement is noticable but doesnt overly impact the film. there's nothing like "hmm, yum i really love nescafe" - cue big grin, its more like, people will be seen holding nescafe cups, and there are nescafe banners in the supermarket etc.

im tempted to see if i can get an english translation of the books, i get a sense that they would explain more of whats going on.
