It pisses me off when folk lump films like Trainspotting and Human Traffic and even (god forbid) Late Night Shopping into the same category. They're clearly miles apart.
Anyone remember Shooting Fish? Another lovely slice of British film... the sort you know is essentially junk, but enjoyable junk nonetheless.
EDIT: It's hardly undiscovered since Vanilla Sky raped it, but Abres Los Ojors is a fucking cracker of a film. I only ever saw half of the remake but it seemed to have sucked out all the atmosphere of the original. Humph. Go buy it for £1.99 off Amazon.

I am pretty sure if I was on any of the tape it was left on the cutting room floor.
I liked Twin Town too.

| Re: Undiscovered Gems Most of these are TOTALLY not obscure. Freeway is a film I adore. Modern day take on Little Red Riding Hood but with creepy rapist bastards, a Juvenile Detention centre and a young cut up lesbian Brittany Murphy. Starring Kiefer Sutherland and Reese Witherspoon. The Southern tang accent does grate a bit but it is worth it to hear such classic lines such as "What are ya'll lookin' at? Fuck all ya'll!". Most people consider it garbage which is always a good sign. Oh, and I'll have some chicken soup, with a fucking straw. Session 9 Vastly underrated psychological horror. It has David Caruso of CSI Miami fame and my favourite Scottish actor of all time Peter Mullan who lead an asbestos cleaning team into an enormous and spooky as fuck mental asylum. The company they own will go bust if they don't complete the contract within a few days so the stress level is high which causes problems on site. The interviews in the special features give an insight into the mental asylum (which is real, BTW) and it is a building which deserves a movie. Terror Firmer A Troma movie based around a film-crew being generally murdered in fantastically gory ways. My favourite Tromo movie ever, I haven't seen it in a few years though. BUY ME IT PLEASE! |

Stab stab stab. | It's too late at night for sarcasm. Late Night Shopping said something along the lines of "If you like young hip British movies like Human Traffic, you'll love this!" on the box.
Apparently flicks about Brit twenty-somethings are all the same, never mind that one's about a group having a laugh with drugs over the w/e, while the other focuses on some sober morose kids who work night-shift and have NO FUN WHATSOEVER in their lives. Gah. |

Stick in South West 9 and Late Night Shopping with Human Traffic and you have a mental nights viewing of smoking, drinking and pill popping!
Might dig them out and give them a watch in the near future.............. |

"Nah. Half that stuff didn't mean anything. I just thought it would be cool to have them in there."
That kinda made that film and every slightly 'out there' thing he did previously make a little more sense. |
