| Re: Batman - The Dark Knight I thought it was good but, despite being a lot slicker, not any better than Batman Begins. Bale was a humourless plank of wood but an effective one as per usual. I was pretty unimpressed with the Joker. Ledgers whole grip of the character seemed to involve hunching his shoulders, smacking his chops and giving it some nasal. The excellent make-up job seemed to be doing all the work for him. Aaron Eckheart stole it which means I'm already choking to see the 3rd installment. The Bat-Bluetooth Goggles were pretty shite but apart from that the entire film is pretty much great.
Was I the only one who got overly excited when Debo turns up in full Next Friday prison gear? |

Although you're wrong on one point, it was Gary Oldman who had the best performance of the film.

BTW Nestor Carbonell's make-up? WTF? Those big close-ups on his slapped-on-with-a-shovel eye-liner pulled me out of the film slightly... |

| Re: Batman - The Dark Knight I'm assuming Catwoman, will be the "bad guy" in the next movie?
I'm judging this purely on the bit of banter between Bale and Freeman "I'm sure I could handle a cat"...Or words to that effect.

| Re: Batman - The Dark Knight My bet's on it being The Riddler. It'd be good only if it wasn't a joking like Jim Carrey Riddler. Get someone with a darker edge to fit the bill.

| Re: Batman - The Dark Knight Harley Quinn, the Joker's "burd", would be interesting; it's hard to see how they'd fit her in now that Heath Ledger's dead though...she was his psychiatrist, right?
Azreal would be another character I'd like to see...a competition between the two, as opposed to the comics where Azreal took over from Batman when Bane snapped his spine?

Because of the level of reality brought to this universe by Nolan it's hard to think of many characters that would work in a sequel. I'd be more than happy if they didn't make another one but we all know with the numbers this is taking, no chance of that. Nolan has said he doesn't know if he's got another one in him as they put everything they could into this.
If (when) they do make another one it would be cool to see them explore a less well explored villain again (ala raas al ghul), do someone like black mask or something. But that would require maybe some back story that goes back to pre begins and i hate when sequels do backflashes to incidents that happened during the time of another film and you're only seeing them now.
Oh , my tuppence (sp?) on the Burton Films - nice looking films with very little feel of batman. Returns as i said earlier is terrible i think. Mostly hampered by a bad script, also not a fan of how throwaway the final confrontation between penguin and batman and in fact batman and catwoman is. I just don't like the first one because Bruce Wayne seems rather presumptious, parents killed, i'll be a batman, no real hint at training or in fact travelling other than the statue he bought in japan. Whoever said Returns was a fifteen; it was a fifteen on video as 12's did not exist on video back in the day, but was a 12 in the cinema.
