i would hardly say the good days are over. the scene is just more fragmented into smaller sub genres these days in the UK, each doing there own thing on a smaller scale than years previous. events upwards of 1,000 people on a weekly basis are commonplace in holland, with much larger scale events happening both indoors & out all through the year.
Oliver's DJ Skinhead project is a far cry from what i know digital hardcore to be (ATR, Alec Epire etc), but im perhaps slightly out of touch with regards to that scene and what its doing now. His Temper Tantrum alias was by far the best of his material imo.
as for the 'thug culture' thing, i have to say thats pretty much non existant in the UK and slightly annoying that it was even mentioned in that review.
in almost 10 years of being actively involved in attending, promoting & playing out at hardcore/gabber parties all over the uk and in europe i can honestly say i can count on the fingers of one hand the amount of times i have encountered the 'thug culture' at events.
sure there are idiots involved in the scene, just like any other scene, particularly in (holland & italy) but they are very much in the minority. implying the scene has thug elements attached to it does nothing to help the scene grow and the fact you felt it was worth a mention in a review demonstrates how little experience you have of the hardcore scene in the UK. Maybe next time theres a party in glasgow on you should pop along & see for yourself.
