The Moonstone Project centres around an Italian guitarist called Matt Filippini and a host of former 70s rock gods such as Glenn Hughes and Eric Bloom.
Now the Moonstone Project certainly ain’t no Deep Purple or Blue Oyster Cult, no it is nine tracks of big hollering blues rock that fell out of a time capsule from the days of Free and the Jeff Beck Group. The myriad voices that pop up over the record are it’s biggest failing, you just do not get any sense of identity whilst it doesn’t help that the music itself is pretty much standard over the whole affair. Cuts are either stodgy blues or umm… stodgy electric blues.
There’s nothing musically awful about
Time To Take A Stand, no it is just really fucking dull.
