A heavenly graceful waltz, Saeglopur by Sigur Ros might be part Enya but this casts a wonderful hail of shimmering noise across its five minutes, leading the listener to worlds unknown. If I were a bargain basement Chinese astronaut drifting through the cosmos in a broken space rocket, this is the shit I’d put on my stereo.
Bringing us back to earth with a solid bump, Fall Out Boy’s A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More ‘Touch Me’ is generic and slightly twee American pop rock. The tune is perky enough, it’s the usual whiny-got-my-small-penis-in-a-vice vocals that ruin this number. I just hope the next rock fad has a more palatable vocal style. In The Morning by Razorlight is a twittering guitar pop ditty a cut above the usual British rock band dreck of the moment. With a smart sense of melody and direction, the song is anchored with a knowing arrogant swagger. Cool.
With Scritti Politti nothing is ever straight forward and Boom Boom Bap is anything but a simple walk down the high street. Instead if they gave you directions to your local Asda their route would take you via the moon. Boom Boom Bap is a weird subdued number, kind of like Blue Nile playing a Supergrass song. In a good world nobody would buy emo, and buy this instead.
Leading onto the equally fun Peaches whose Downtown is utter raucous sleaze and more dirty fun than a night in with a Chili Pepper. | | | |

| Re: ASides: Peaches, Sigur Ros, Fall Out Boy, Scritti Politti, Razorlight Razorlight's single is almost exactly the same as the majotity of the songs off the last Album.

| Re: ASides: Peaches, Sigur Ros, Fall Out Boy, Scritti Politti, Razorlight I dont mind that, actually. Just when I think a band has a sound I like, they go "hey, lets take a new musical direction!" bollocks.
See:
*The Strokes last album, compared to the first
Ive listened to Keanes new album once. The single "is it any wonder" sounds good. i didnt feel there was enough piano/keyboard melody in there, like the first. I thought they had a really good 'sound', too.

| Re: ASides: Peaches, Sigur Ros, Fall Out Boy, Scritti Politti, Razorlight I wasn't that into the Peaches song. It just isn't as sonically filthy as her previous outings, I fear she may turn into Alison Goldfrapp |

| Re: ASides: Peaches, Sigur Ros, Fall Out Boy, Scritti Politti, Razorlight I love the new Razorlight song, the last minute of the song is absolutely brill - "Are you really gonna do it this time?! Are you really gonna do it this time?!".

| Re: ASides: Peaches, Sigur Ros, Fall Out Boy, Scritti Politti, Razorlight Decent track for Sigur Ros to release.
never gonna be as popular as Hopipolla, but even that didn't chart very. I guess the folk who would buy it already own the album.
I quite like the new Razorlight single, although I've heard it so much I'm tiring a bit of it.
I'd disagree with it sounding like previous stuff, it has the same slant, but is quite different.
New Keane stuff just sounds like U2.
