I've not had much exposure to DC other than the odd track on a movie soundtrack so forgive me for not going into details about past records, going by what I've read though this is slightly more commercial than them.
On this record Carrabba sings his wee heart out about love (that he's generally lost) and stuff that upsets him in a emotastic fashion unfortunately not much of that emotion passed on to me and personally that’s the key.
I love emotional songs, Rain by Madonna, No Ordinary Morning by Chicane those songs send shivers up my spin that didn't happen with any of the songs on this album in fact I'm hard pushed to remember any lyrics.
The soundtrack to these lyrics is your standard light guitar rock made me think of watered down cold play at points. There really isn't anything wrong though, other than the lack of emotion being generated, the songs are nice, it sounds nice, it's nicely produced and the covers nice, it's all very very nice the problem with nice is that while you don't mind spending time with nice things you'd much rather spend time with good things or lovely things.
Yeah I spent most of the time listening to this in the car for the review and it's easy on the ear mostly. Nice enough just didn't really reach out to me.
