| She Wants Revenge - King Tut’s, Glasgow, 18.07.06 She Wants Revenge have a strange sound. It’s familiar, but different. It’s retro but somehow very now. The shorthand way to describe them would be to admit that, well, they sound like New Order. Or maybe like Interpol, though that’s a little pointless when Interpol just sound like New Order too. It’s kinder to imagine that there was no new-wave electro goth movement in 1980s England and try to describe She Wants Revenge afresh. They play dark pop songs, with beats and basslines that practically weld your hips to the dancefloor. It’s a combination of traditional rock song structures with electronically precise perfomance.
It’s deceptively simple music. Repetitive bass, monotone, almost spoken lyrics. Let it get under your skin though and you can find a lot more in there. Those beats are anything but simplistic. Those basslines are hypnotic. Those lyrics … well, that’s where She Wants Revenge can really hook you. The songs are all about boy/girl...

I guess it really depends on your own stance too. Some people go to rock and roll shows wanting exactly that. A show. They want to be inspired by then guy/girl up on stage who's giving an outrageous and gripping performance.
That is counterbalanced by the guy who sits on the stage with an acoustic guitar and plays something so beautiful he silences the room and jaws hit the floor.
Both approaches need each other I think, and deep down we all like bothn to varying degrees. |

| Re: She Wants Revenge - King Tut’s, Glasgow, 18.07.06 I reckon some of those tracks would sound incredible in a nightclub after a quarter-bottle of bourbon.

| Re: She Wants Revenge - King Tut’s, Glasgow, 18.07.06 I was wondering why people were gutted that they had missed them, but now I see that they played in July last year.
Hope they come back, although I haven't heard anything from their second album.

| Re: She Wants Revenge - King Tut’s, Glasgow, 18.07.06 That second album still isn’t anywhere near seeing the light of day.
