Post-hardcore ravers debut album

| | Enter Shikari - Take To The Skies It’s rare to come across an album which is essential listening, not just because of its musical quality or its inventiveness, but also because of its importance to modern music. Take To The Skies is just such an album.
From the opening atmospheric synth of Stand Your Ground; This is an Ancient Land you can tell you’re about to hear something special and this feeling is solidified when Enter Shikari kicks in. With lead singer Rou producing such vitriol against a dynamic background of synth, crashing drums and heavy guitar riffage, you can’t help but be impressed by this young band as you’re swept along for the ride. Adieu showcases the band and their most heartfelt and mellow, with sweet infectious melodies accompanied by acoustic guitar, before building to a glorious crescendo in the last minute.
According to one of the band’s own song titles, Anything Can Happen in the Next Half Hour. This isn’t the best way to sum up the album however, as certain tracks do seem to take on a formulaic, bleep-rock approach and although it’s certainly not for everyone, with dance beats, raw emotional vocals and thrashing post-hardcore guitars, it’s worth listening to for anyone who is interested in the way these four young men are changing the world of music; by doing things their way and doing it on their own. | | | |

| Re: Enter Shikari - Take To The Skies Having the world's shittiest synth sound != having anything to do with dance music.
They're a smart bunch of lads, I'll give them that. They're probably aware of how fucking awul they are and know they're going to be found out sooner or later, so they're touring relentlessly to make as much cash as they can. Quote: |

| Re: Enter Shikari - Take To The Skies I hate this band, saw them live in London on Saturday and they were awful. they aren't doing anything new which their fans seem to think they are doing
Also their fans seem to make a big deal about how they arent signed and how it is so admirable, but they dont need to be signed now, and by not being signed they are keeping more money for themselves, whereas their fans somehow think it means they will be making less money.

| Re: Enter Shikari - Take To The Skies I kinda like this band. They arent bad live although they do go on rather too much about sex, like they're overcompensating or something. Anyway, there is absolutely nothing new here, and in no way can any sensible person say with a straight face that they are changing... well, much of anything at all. But that said, they still make some decent tracks, imho.
Cheers!

| Re: Enter Shikari - Take To The Skies Always make me think of a bad metal band with lead synth in place of lead geetar.

| Re: Enter Shikari - Take To The Skies My main point was that regardless of what their music sounds like, which is obviously subject to opinion, the way they might be changing the music world is by rejecting deals from big labels. It doesn't matter about the money, by doing things their own way and setting up their own label, they undercut the music industry which is mainly geared towards profits and controls the kind of music a band puts out. Cutting out record labels by using the internet could mean bands have more freedom to make the music they want to make. |

But aye, this band are utter shite.
