This single almost had me hooked from the second the guitars kicked in. It’s main selling point being that it sounded enough musically like
Therapy? for me to start air-guitaring about the kitchen during my first listen. My one and only problem is now that I've linked them in my head to Therapy? I'm starting to hear an Irish twang in the singers voice where there isn't one.
The one and only criticism I have for this track is that it’s almost soulless. It has the guitar riff that you know but can’t place which gets you moving about a dance floor and the singers got a voice that wouldn’t sound out of place throwing out STP covers. It does lack something though, no one that I’ve played the single for has been able to put their finger on it but everyone agreed they’d be up dancing to it if they had a pint in them, they just wouldn’t buy it and I have to say I agree with that.
The band seem to be about to make that step from the “almost's” to the “made it’s” picking up a gig at Download this summer and having the Radio One Rock Show record of the week with their previous release. Curiously enough you can pick this track up just in time to catch them touring the country later this month and into August.
Anaemia is out on the 9th July for downloading and 23rd July for a limited run of 7" on Hassle records.
