| Placebo - Meds There are aspects of life that are dependant on change, from the value of the pound to how late the trains are running on a particular day. Yet there are other areas in the world that remain static, things that lie in a proverbial limbo of grey and Placebo are such an entity.
Since 1996 Placebo have been peddling the same themes of vaguely perverted glam pop and on Meds not a lot has changed. It is still sex, drugs, booze and hangovers, both mentally and physically and the brutal fact is that Placebo did it a lot better about seven years ago. Over their first two records the band mastered the art of combining Suede sleaze with Sonic Youth guitars, particularly evident on their eternal rewrites of Silver Rocket. Black Market Music found Placebo adrift on a sea of banality, the album merely a collection of mid paced mediocrity that went neither here nor there. Meds however is a regression for Molko and his cohorts, the album...

| Re: Placebo - Meds Here's my 2 cents. Meds - Cracking opener. VV from The Kills joins in, and i could actually bear her. Infra-red - Nice. Drag - After all i heard about this being the highlight of the album, i was pretty disappointed. Good, but not great. Space Monkey - This could have ended up terrible. As it is, it's "awright" Follow The Cops Back Home - Great track, should be a staple of their live set. Post Blue - Synths aplenty, should be the next single. Reminds me a lot of something, can't put my finger on it. Because I Want You - Good choice for a first single, warms up to a great ending. Blind - More of a ballad than anything else, they make a good job of it. Pierrot The Clown - The album's only bad track. Broken Promise - Probably the best song on the album. One Of A Kind - Bit average and repetetive. In the Cold Light of the Morning - Really slow, but alright. "A cock in a dildo's disguise" is an early bet for line of the year. Song To Say Goodbye - I was expecting another mellow song to close things, quite a nice surprise. Weird choice for a closer, would have preferred Broken Promise.
A bit too many slow songs to be a great album (take Pierrot The Clown out and it's great), but still good nonetheless.

Disagreement rocks.

As for the review debate, as said before, Placebo fans are going to buy this album regardless of reviews. I did. And I agree. It's you run of the mill Placebo album. Nothing spectacular. Meds sounds like Every You, Every Me and all the others you feel like you've heard somewhere before. But if you've got a fan base like Placebo, why fix what ain't broke?

(I'll be honest, I just took it as a sly dig.) | Aye if everyone agreed we'd really make a mess of things. I'll leave you with your negativity and I'll stick with my dreaming both got some place in the world and least were not killing people over our opinions .

| Re: Placebo - Meds No, what i'm saying is that the album is a bit more one-dimensional than i'd like it to be.

| Re: Placebo - Meds i don't see how saying
"A bit too many slow songs to be a great album (take Pierrot The Clown out and it's great), but still good nonetheless."
conveys
" the album is a bit more one-dimensional than i'd like it to be."
also it is basically a total rock record with only a few slow tracks.
I think the album is great and the production is great as it really opens their sound and has more dynamic than their previous work.
