Evokes memories of Shed Seven, only it is a Shed Seven fronted by Robbie Williams. Sturdy, dependable pub rock that does not excite much interest apart from a nifty blistering guitar solo halfway through. www.robmcculloch.com Newton Faulkner - Full Fat. Sounding like a boring, tired Everlast, Faulkner raps over some redundant strums and synth squelches, losing my interest by the first thirty seconds of the track. www.newtonfaulkner.com The Randoms - Two Stripe Trainers. Pick of a poor bunch, the Randoms sound like a second tier Brit pop band from ten years ago but manage to construct a memorable melodic guitar pop tune. www.therandoms.com
All of the above releases are out now, check websites for more details. | | | |

| Re: Singles roundup - Rob McCulloch, Newton Faulkner, the Randoms Mr Parker, whilst I respect that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, I find yours with regard to Newton Faulkner somewhat hard to swallow. Having listened to Newton Faulkner's available tracks on his web site www.n-b-f.com and his myspace, see him live at Ronnie Scotts and the Lewes International guitar festival and heard him live several times on Radio 2, I'm convinced he's the best young songwriter, singer and guitarist that this country has produced for a very long time. Maybe not everyone's taste, but then I'm not that keen on Babyshambles or Rammstein. Yet, he lost your interest after just 30 seconds. There are a lot of people out there who would disagree, but maybe you just have a very limited attention span.
Personally, i reckon he's going to be very big in the near future, so be prepared to eat your words.
May the funk be with you. |

| Re: Singles roundup - Rob McCulloch, Newton Faulkner, the Randoms Where do you people come from?
Dingat, you're obviously either Faulkner, Faulkner's pal or a promotion type person and I couldn't care less how big he's going to be, I didn't like that song. GASP Oh the horror of it all.
Man you people have too much time on your hands to be signing up to a site just to reply to my one sentence review.
I take it your pal doesn't get reviewed much eh?

| Re: Singles roundup - Rob McCulloch, Newton Faulkner, the Randoms Mr P, How come you make the assumption that we must be Newton, his family, or PR people, JUST beause we disagree with your opinion? Don't know who Foxy Loxy is, but obviously another dercerning music lover who can recognise talent when he hears it. Go on Mr P, have another listen and maybe also to a few of Newton's other tracks - or better still, come to Shepherds Bush Empire on Saturday 8th April or The Bedford in Balham on 13th April and see him play live - who knows, we'll maybe make a convert of you yet!
Why bother to write a one line put-down, if you don't expect anyone to read it and respond?

May the funk be with you | Just give up. You've only posted twice on this forum and it was in this thread. Throwing in your tuppence-worth has only decreased the probability of me ever listening to the artist you're trying to defend. You're fooling no-one. |
