| Asides: Fall Out Boy, R Ashcroft, Therapy?, Coldcut and Giant Drag Fall Out Boy - Dance, Dance Aims to be JEW's Sweetness but falls far short. This is everything that stinks about modern commericial rock music, middle of the road pap tailored for middle of the road saps in baggy trousers. Where is a cultural apocalypse when you need one? Richard Ashcroft - Music Is Powerless Christ this is shite! Funk guitar fights with strings and a multitude of sounds for your attention as Ashcroft does his schtik over the top. Mince. Therapy? - Rain Hits Concrete Heard it all before but you can't deny Therapy? for their knack at writing Big Black flected pop punk. Catchy but sour! Giant Drag - This Isn't It - Surly yet sweet grunge pop that is half way between the Breeders and Veruca Salt. Contains a snazzy guitar solo at the half way mark that would make Mascis proud. Coldcut - True Skool - More memorable than it should be this...

| Re: Singles inc. Fall Out Boy, R Ashcroft, Therapy?, Coldcut and Giant Drag As soon as I read that bit about Fall Out Boy I knew there'd be a backlash.
I downloaded some Giant Drag a while back, pretty good but nothing I'd be chapping at the bit to get my paws on. I do like how their songs are so sweet-sounding but have incongruous titles like "You Are Full of Shit" and "Kevin is Gay" |

Everyone in my work groans everytime someone has a go at them amd I'm in the room. I'm like a dog with a bone, they can do no wrong in my eyes.
They're my cheesy-as-fuck escapism from all the "proper emo" I listen to

American indie-esque stuff, for me. Ranging from Sunny Day Real Estate, to Hey Mercedes, to Death Cab to Mineral. That's my version, anyway, nowadays scene aside.
