| | Asides: Fall Out Boy, R Ashcroft, Therapy?, Coldcut and Giant Drag Fall Out Boy - Dance, Dance Aims to be JEW's Sweetness but falls far short. This is everything that stinks about modern commericial rock music, middle of the road pap tailored for middle of the road saps in baggy trousers. Where is a cultural apocalypse when you need one? Richard Ashcroft - Music Is Powerless Christ this is shite! Funk guitar fights with strings and a multitude of sounds for your attention as Ashcroft does his schtik over the top. Mince. Therapy? - Rain Hits Concrete Heard it all before but you can't deny Therapy? for their knack at writing Big Black flected pop punk. Catchy but sour! Giant Drag - This Isn't It - Surly yet sweet grunge pop that is half way between the Breeders and Veruca Salt. Contains a snazzy guitar solo at the half way mark that would make Mascis proud. Coldcut - True Skool - More memorable than it should be this track is a great catchy slice of sitar pumped hip hop. | | | |

| Re: Singles inc. Fall Out Boy, R Ashcroft, Therapy?, Coldcut and Giant Drag I love Dance, Dance and your middle of the road pap is music I can dance too. Sure it's not something that will move the world but it moves your feet and your body. Different music for different things. It's a cracking pop punk tune thank god it replaces a slot that would probably be filled on the radio by an Artic Monkeys tune, now that is pish.

Middle of the road, pah! FOB's lyrics are FAR smarter than the majority of pop-punkers and what's more this song has FAR more dancibility* than Sweetness by Jimmy Eat World.
Pfft.
*It's so a real word.

| Re: Singles inc. Fall Out Boy, R Ashcroft, Therapy?, Coldcut and Giant Drag Old pop-punk fan decries new pop-punkers shocker.
Personally, I’m with Mr Parker. I find FOB generic and uninspired. Not so much that it offends me, just enough to make me pass ’em over for the next record on the shelf.
They’re exactly the sort of music I was once rabidly into, so to me they just sound like a pale imitation of records I already know.
Such is the way of the world.
Oh aye, and I heard a Giant Drag single last night. They do rock.

| Re: Singles inc. Fall Out Boy, R Ashcroft, Therapy?, Coldcut and Giant Drag I mean no offence when I state the simple observation that Fallout Boy sound like they're singing "blah blah blah.." |
