Question Yamaha mw12 usb mixing Desk Quiry and multitrack recording

Hi this USB mixer comes with cubase LE and u can download ASIO drivers. With this mixer and cubase, is there a way to record many differnet inputs in the mixer to come up as seperate tracks on cubase, like if i was live recording or something?

Basically, lets say four microphones (for four seperate instruments) are pluged in to the xlr inputs on the mixer, the mixer is plugged in to USB input on computer and i have downloaded an ASIO driver and i want to record all four instruments at same time. Is there a way to get all four of these instruments on seperate tracks as i record them live.

I hope my question makes sense. If it is not possible, can anyone suggest another way of doing it. I havn't actually bought this mixer yet so you can suggest a different mixer but if u do, please try to keep around the price range of this.

I will actually be recording up to like 6 or 8 tracks at a time just incase thats important. Thanks.

    I don't *think* so:

The MW delivers true plug-and-play USB audio input/output interfacing, and lets you easily mix your audio sources down to two-track stereo for recording to computer.
I've never used it though, I may be wrong

No this won't do it. It's only got the one stereo input (2 mono channels). You'll struggle to find somethingthat does what you're asking for 155 quid.

    Check out this:

    http://www.soundcontrol.co.uk/mod_1/...1.5.2.1-107-21

Or the edirol Fa66 which has less inputs.

Remember that when a device says it has, say 10 inputs, they're not usually all mic inputs. There's usually digital ins/outs and phono ins/outs which aren't much use for recording mics unless you buy some more gear.

What you're basically looking for is a USB audio interface with more than one input. You dom't necessarily have to have a mixer for what you are trying to achieve.

Also, remember that certain mics (condensers) will require phantom power so check that the interface you get has this.

If you plan to use pro tools at all make sure you get an M-audio interface as only they are compatible with protools (m-powered).
