| FAO Guitar knowledge people, new guitar help. One of my mate's brothers is looking for an electric guitar and e-mailed me asking for any advice for which ones to pick/try out. He says that he's looking for - Quote: |
Im looking for one that can do screaming whammy bar heavy rock stuff but that is versatile and can play a lot of different kinds of music like your basic chart franz ferdinand style stuff also. Whats your suggestions?
| This was followed by Ibanez, ESP, Fender Strat? etc.
Does anyone have any ideas as to the best type of guitar for this kind of thing? Or for any other specific questions to ask if this is too vague? He hasn't put anything down for a budget so anything from £150-200 upwards would be a great help.
Cheers. |

| Re: FAO Guitar knowledge people, new guitar help. Ibanez RG, no contest. If you want a versatile guitar with a trem system that will actually stay in tune there's no contest whatsoever. |

The trem on my Peavey V-type holds up better than the Edge on my RG570 did.

What kind of music will he be playing?
Is he a lead player or a rhythm junkie?
What kind of amp does he use?

Gibson SG, lightweight, great tone, versatile http://www.guitar.co.uk/guitars/elec...guitar?page=15
Jackson MG, a true shredder at heart, but i've had a go and it is good for indie nonsense
But for me, an extra £79 makes it no contest,

| Re: FAO Guitar knowledge people, new guitar help. Aye, he's basically a wee bit vague with what he asked me. I think by the sounds of it he'd like something that he could play proper wailing whammy bar stuff, but also something quite versatile so he could play indie stuff like Franz too.
If it was me, i'd be all over the Jackson, tremendous guitars to play. |
