Peavey Windsor....worth it??

Been lookin for a decent amp head for AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGEEESSSS and came across this on the sound control website. £200 nicker, watched a clip of a Guitar World review of this on youtube, thot it sounded pretty mint!

But in reality, is it a decent amp head??

Im lookin to play sorta gloomy hardcore, so not lookin for super amounts of gain as im usin a metal muff pedal at the moment, so chances r that'll b run with it!

Any help would b amazin

Cheers

I've always hated Peavey, but I've been out of the game of equipment purchasing for a number of years.

Peavey valve amps are superb, much better and more reliable than most. Not sure if the Windsor is what you're looking for mind you...

Re: Peavey Windsor....worth it??

Yeah well, i mean its a good startin amp, im gonna be usin a distortion pedal with it anyways, but it does have a tremendous range for a 200 quid amp, obv not 5150 tones, but quite marshall jcm 800-esque!!

im not lookin for super over the top distortion, just something with a good overdrive!

Purchased within the week methinks!!

Re: Peavey Windsor....worth it??

IF you can live with a single channel amp, go for it! From what I read they can take a bit of tweaking to get right but can be useful, especially with pedals.

I still think you'd be better saving an extra £50 and getting a good second hand JCM900 combo, but that's just me being boring and conventional

we've got 2 windsors in here and you can't get a purely clean sound. nice tone if you crank em and fairly well built.
