| Electro Acoustic guitars....where to start? Looking for something fairly decent with a good sound
budget of about £150-£200
iv heard good things about washburn's electro acoustic range
and i see ibanez, fender and takamine all do fairly well priced ones aswell.
Just wondering what i can expect for that sort of money?
thanks

| Re: Electro Acoustic guitars....where to start? I love my Jim Deacon, but I'm not really a proper guitar player, so theres obviously better (and worse) makes on the market. I paid £130 for mine, down from £199.

| Re: Electro Acoustic guitars....where to start? Yeah, despite my recommendations an hour ago in Camperstral's thread concerning their cases, their actual instruments aren't great.
(With the exception of stagg's splash cymbals, which are supposed to sound trashy - i prefer my two £10 stagg splashes to my £130 Zildjian )

| Re: Electro Acoustic guitars....where to start? Some of the Stagg gear is actually pretty good, and I include many of the acoustic guitars in that...
At the end of the day, we can shout names at you till you're blue in the face but the best gauge is your fingers. Go and play as many guitars in the price range as you possibly can, and pick the one that feels best to you |

| Re: Electro Acoustic guitars....where to start? What size are you looking for? More electric size or dreadnought acoustic? Don't get anything that hasn't got a solid top, you can get good guitars made in China now in your price range.
McCormacks were doing this in December for £170 using a Snapfax

| Re: Electro Acoustic guitars....where to start? You cannae go wrong with a Yamaha. They go on for ages and hold their tune really well...The FGX720 is really good. It's around £250, but you can shop around on Froogle and find it cheaper...and Merchant City Music will price match. I was going to buy one a few months ago, but decided to push to boat out went for Guild instead. |

| Re: Electro Acoustic guitars....where to start? I have a TANGLEWOOD TM07 Odyssey CutAway Electro Acoustic http://www.spectresound.co.uk/product.asp?ID=2518
not seen many of them about but I can say it is an absolutely incredible guitar with a sound that is truly amazing. But I do agree that you need to play a guitar a few times before buying it. I was in the shop three weeks in a row before a got this one.

Robert's got an Advantage that was £150 and it sounds amazing plugged in. You just have to try them all out till you find one you're happy with. Try not to buy a plastic one.
I remember everyone raving about Takimine guitars a while back as well.
