| The NAMM Show report So, my first trip to the NAMM..
Not quite as exciting as the phrase makes it out to be, unless you're McCoy or Barry who'd have spent the whole trip with hard-ons.
The NAMM show is the International Music Products Association annual get together to show off all their new toys at the Anaheim Conference Centre in Orange County, just south of Los Angeles.
Imagine the main hall at the SECC... x6.. packed full of the latest in musical instruments and technology. It really is a massive show, and trust me when I say you need to be wearing comfortable shoes.
I guess I should say I'm not really up to speed on what's what in the world of guitars and associated technology.. so a huge part of the event was lost on me, although I did see some really nice stuff, I'm not sure what any of it does... I really need to learn.
There was some really cool stuff over in the electronic section of the halls, but again.. trying to take everything in at once was a little overwhelming.
I have a whole pile of brochures and literature to go thru, but instead of boring you with all the details, just have some pics to look at. Hopefully they'll give you an idea of what it was like... and before you ask Chris.. no I cant get you in next year... The walk from the hotel to the show.. The Electronic Village More Electronica Not sure whether this is discrimination... surely girls can play ANY guitar, they dont need special ones that come in pink? The 'Joe Special'... I forgot to take a pic of Slash getting Pwned by a 10 year old on Guitar Hero.. so here's Kerry King instead He's not REALLY that big.. honest.. Leo... the MAN at Laney.. if you want good discounts... This was only a little part of the Yamaha stand.. definitely the biggest exhibitor there.. Just waiting for the worlds biggest 9v battery.

I'll see what I can do about sorting out a timeshare for it
I understand it's POSITIVE discrimination of sorts, but daisy rock still give me the wrath.
The last picture's cool as fuck though.
the silver surfer's not cool enough to be modelling the Joe special mind in the one above that.
anyway, looks like an awesome day out, I'd love to go to something like that. |

I think the principle is they're about 3/4 size too if you've got tiny midget hands.
However, in a curious twist of fate, when plugged into the same amp (Crate 212), that little Daisy gave heavier tone than my now knackered BC Rich Warlock.
Make of this what you will.

| Re: The NAMM Show report Forum outing?
I'll stick up for the Daisy Rock stuff, as someone who works in instrument retail I've lost count of the number of females who want smaller guitars that are still good quality. Sold LOADS over christmas. |
