| ES-135 pickup advice.... ? Alright - i have bought a Gibson ES135 from a mate of mine cause the offer was too good to pass up, and while it has a luverly blues/jazz tone, i dont play blues/jazz. I was wondering if anyone had any idea if there are any hot pickups you can put in a semi-hollow body guitar? I'm not looking for screaming distortion, just a nice crunch without feedback at volume... the stock pickups are P-100's and they just cant hack it!
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.... cheers.

| Re: ES-135 pickup advice.... ? For some good value pickups that sound pretty fuck shit hot, I'd try Kent Armstrongs. The website gives you a wee bit of info on them. http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/category/El...bucker_Pickups
I've now heard a few of them and I'd recommend them man.
Either that or if you have a batter through the Seymour Duncan website, they've got some sound samples. http://www.seymourduncan.com/
I'm gonna be gettin about 3 of my guitar's pickups changed and I'm goin for Kent Armstrongs.

Hope you understand the feedback issues your going to have however i digress...
I believe you can get a P90 sized Tone Zone from Dimarzio which should be nice, although i'm not sure how it would sound in a hollow body. |

If you've got any questions, Paula and Louise at Strungout Guitars in Kings Court are really good. You can get them on 0141 552 4848.

| Re: ES-135 pickup advice.... ? Fair enough. I've had quite a bit of work done by them over the years and it's been to good standard. Suppose nobody's perfect, sucks but.

Actually now that I think about it...
I've been after an Axis with P90s for ages and I don't see what your getting at? Soapbars are great pups and tend to be quite hot sounding. I think you should try a different amp... |

| Re: ES-135 pickup advice.... ? I'd be inclined to leave it too, go for a Seymour Duncan if you absolutely must change it. |
