MC505 or something else?

I have always wanted to own a Roland MC505 but I wondered if any dance musicians out there would recommend buying this machine or would you put the money into something else ? the kick drum on these rocks from what I can tell but more experienced people may say I can get more for my money elsewhere

I am going to pay about £275 for it whatever machine I buy as its all i can afford right now

Re: MC505 or something else?

The MC505 is ok, but I wouldn't say the kick drum rocks as such, if you are just starting out get some vst plug ins for various production software and work from there. There is no point tying yourself down to certain hardware right away.

Re: MC505 or something else?

try out some emulators and then you'll get a feel for the kind of thing you're looking for in hardware. if not it'll give you time to think about what you really want from a drum machine.

i'm all about the 909 emulator here, but you can find more.

Re: MC505 or something else?

Thanks for the advice. I have been using a few things in the past , and that is
Reason 2, fruity loops, and (damn that other stuff by propeller heads - cant think of its name - 3am so am tired)
somehow its not the same as actually having the machines in front of you though
