Make your own pedals, a mate of mine did it and its awesome.

I've not done any soldering since I made a fuse tester in Technology when I was like 15 but this was pretty easy. The instructions, forum and videos all show you how to do it. I even managed to insert a clipping mod so that you can choose between the "standard" TS808 or a Marshall JCM800ish crunch.
The great thing is that you can decorate them yourself. I've got a decal of the Rocket logo to go on mine (thanks again to the kind phorum-ite who sent me it), once I get round to spraying it white.

I done some of my own pedals when I was a college doing electronics. The best bit is changing the values of some of the components to get some great sounds. Only down side is the cost, at the end of the day it could cost you more to make them yourself.

I know what you mean I had a multi fx years ago and I really only used a few of the sounds. I was wanting to make a distortion pedal with a tuner built into the same unit for my college project but it was just a bit too complicated for the unit so I done a nice simple electronic metronome.
