Guitar fault

Heya,

A while back I posted a thread about acoustic guitar pickups and how mine isn't wokring that well.

Anyways, I hadn't played through a PA for quite a while and when using the guitar for recording, the pick-up was working fine. Could plug it in to my recording equipment and get a decent sound out, basically it worked.

However, last night in Newcastle the sound was awful through the DI box, and as such I had to borrow someone elses guitar. Now, when I'm home I've plugged it back in to the recording stuff and it works, it even works when I plug it in to my Line-6 pod-xt.

What could be going wrong? It wasn't the lead I was using last night as it was the same lead I used with the other guitar. The last gig previous to this one that I used a PA for the guitar worked fine through a DI box (but I did break a string so had to swap anyways).

Luckily the next few gigs I'm doing are no PA shows. Might have to invest in a spare acoustic pick-up just incase.

Twas a brand new battery in it. Something that was strange was that the battery light was on full when I plugged in the lead, and usually it's not on unless the battery is going flat. Could there be power coming up the lead to the guitar and shorting it? He was mentioning something about an XLR to guitar jack cable or something.

My bass did that to me a few months ago when i changed the battery. When it was plugged into the amp the sound came and went, plugged into the 4 track it was fine. The problem vanished as quickly as it had arrived, never figured it out.

My acoustic doesn't have a battery, that confused loads of people one night when all that was wrong was a loose wire. For 30 minutes i had people saying "it's the battery", "of course it needs a battery" and quieter "haha, he doesn't even know his guitar takes a batter". I eventually thrust it towards one of the guys, he looked at it and said "oh, it doesn't use a battery".

is it maybe the battery lid that's not closing tight? if you use it a lot then the hinges sometimes get loose. dunno though cause the last guy said something and i'm still wondering, is that right?

is the di box battery powered? the problem probably lies with it or dodgy cables.

I'll ask some of the sound guys in work, see if they have any idea's..

The battery lid was closed fine, it's a very tight seal.

Dodgy cables was my thought. but since the cable worked for the guitar I eventually used and not mine, the cable was probably ok.

Yeah, this is my main thought. If the DI box was sending power up the lead, I didn't look closely at the Jackplug to see if it was a 'stereo' one with a power channel.

The thing that makes me think this is happening is that the Battery light came on with the ead plugged in. It should of only came on with a flat battery, and I had a fresh one in. Plus, when a 'normal' patch lead was plugged in to tune it, the light didn't come on.
