The whole range of basses and guitars is meant to be the best thing since the 80s Japanese models

Not yet, although the Duo-Sonic looks pretty tasty. Might have a go on a Jazz Bass next time I spot one in a shop but for that price I could probably pick a second hand Mexican one.

The Mexicans up to much? I heard the quality wasn't up to much. The Duo Sonic does look nice, I like the finish they're putting on the maple necks it's very classy looking. I don't know why they don't put it on the rosewood necks though.
Merchant City has the 50s Strat in at £230 and the Precision at £250
GuitarGuitar has the Duo in for £250 and the Jazz for £280.

I don't know how well Mexican Fenders hold up over a prolonged period as I've never owned one myself. I just used to have a pal who owned a Mexican Jazz Bass and it played pretty nice which is more important to me.
If it's Japanese I would imagine the bulid quality would be better but the parts won't be as good to keep the price down.

Fallen Angel can stare guitars out
I dont' know if it's an exaggeration and it might be because it was someone on a strat forum who said the Vibes are so good if you put some custom shop pups in them you would near enough have a brand new Fender for £300.
The 70s and 80s was a golden age for all Japanese guitars I think, even Ibanez made strats are well sought after. Well, up to about £200ish.
Just seen a Squier JV go for £400 on ebay
