I love the gain on Channel 2, Channel 3 is almost too insane.
Got Dav'es Mesa Boogie MK3 in the other room and Nick's Engl 4 x 12, I'd love to just daisy chain the lot for a pure laugh, but i'll get murdered. | What happened to it then?
I love Engl 4x12's, had to sell my fuck when I moved flat, ragin' 'cause they're fucking mint, I bought it second hand though so wasn't a great loss.
The MK3 is a total weapon, so that's some gear there.
You tried the MKV yet? Was thinking about purchasing one, but haven't tried 'em yet. Heard good things about them though. Pricey as fuck, but worth it. Either that or might go back to the old Dual Rectifier.

| Re: distortion..preamp or pedals : discuss The Korg Toneworks has the such a nice ring modulation tone.
I say this in total confidence that I would never pay for the perfect ring modulation tone. |

i was
im talking about Keeley modded boss and ibanez stuff and the like
high quality true bypass etc
maybe not £150 anymore, upon checking it looks like about 100 - 110 these days.
truth be told im not really 'in the loop' with pedals because id never consider using one as i have probably heard over 50 in my time and of that 2 of them did what they said they did and they were both keely modded (boss blues driver and a ibanez tube screamer)
my amp needs neither so i wont be purchasing any
the think its pretty funny though that pedals in general are designed for live use and in reality they sound worst of all live.
distortion pedals are pretty much the bane of glasgow metal gigs
shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhfffffffffffffffffzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

| Re: distortion..preamp or pedals : discuss Aye, can't imagine paying £150 for a single pedal.
Swear by my fab tone for rock/blues mind, and I've got a neat little Boss Equaliser pedal I tend to use whenever I have to DI anything in a venue. Everything else I use the Toneworks for, even has pretty versatile amp emulation, which I admittedly don't use much. |

| Re: distortion..preamp or pedals : discuss Aye, I just can't imagine anything I'd want that much that I either don't have or couldn't get cheaper.
Not trying to start an argument incidentally but my Boss EQ pedal doesn't hiss at all, might want to get the wiring checked before you sell it. |

| Re: distortion..preamp or pedals : discuss its widley known tht the GE7 hisses like a bitch if yours doesnt then your lucky! or maybe you have a different one?
theres even a mod pack you can buy called the sniper mod to widen the scope of the eq and remove the hiss.
and when i say his i mean when you turn it on dont and play anything its not absolutley silent
i suppose it depends what your using it for.
the pedal is a good idea though it does give you a good range of freqs that you can boost and cut but im pretty happy with my amp on its own.
as far as paying the money go's its dependant on your outlook. I pay £100 for single humbucker pickups because i like bareknuckle pickups and i think they are the best. i dare say plenty of people would say they can get 'a' pickup like that for less. But my view is they cant because BKP's cost £100 each. |

| Re: distortion..preamp or pedals : discuss Its weird, but I occasionally take umbrage at the idea that I should be using the most expensive equipment possible or I'm somehow lessened as a musician.
I know that its just snobbery and I shouldn't let it bug me, but it still does. |

Either that or might go back to the old Dual Rectifier. | It blew a valve, then the glass came decoupled from the plastic socket when it blew and the plastic bit got STUCK in the valve input!
I tried everything to get it out and was about to head to flynn amps to pay £60 for a full service when a mate.....
...turned it upside down, it just fell out, felt like a DICK.
The MKV looks amazing, my mate who uses the studio is waiting on the combo version he bought for the band, I'll let you know how it sounds when he brings it in.
£2300 but, WOOFT! |

| Re: distortion..preamp or pedals : discuss Point of curiousity, but is it possible to achieve effects like ring modulation, wah, and echo with amp distortion? |

Hahahaha, excellent.
Yeah it's hefty pricey, but thinking that surely it must be worth it. Lemme know anyway
