Take it thats a no. If 'time domain effects' is a real term then I've never heard of it, take it thats in reference to me mentioning echo though. What about frequency-based effects like ring modulation?
At least I think you were saying no.* It was bugging me since this thread was started that some people (Yourself included) seemed to be saying "Ditch your pedals and get a good amp" which only works if you want a conventional tone.
*If not, please correct the hell out of me. I'm genuinely curious here, rather than trying to be a smartass.

Ring Modulation is in a whole world of it's own, but I would class it as a time domain effect (along with reverb, chorus, delay, etc), dynamic effect are things like compression, gates, distortion, gain.
Only a small percentage of people are into thing like ring modulation so there's no value on sticking on an amp, the amp is there for tone.
The only amp that would do something like that would be, maybe, the Line 6 Vetta.
We were referencing to things like distortion, EQ and pre-amp gain when saying amps > pedals.

Pretty sure that ring modulation multiplies the frequency rather than affecting the timing of the signal. Where are you getting the term 'Time Domain' from? Its not one I'm familiar with.

It's a geeky sound engineer term, I'd normally not use it, but I'm in the middle of writing new slides for the HNC course I teach next year.
Cheers, weird name.

Played Mk4 boogie, the 1x12 combo.
Loud little fucker but too many knobs to fanny about with and I thought the drive channels lacked any real character. I think however a head would be a better bet. It weighs an absolute tonne (the combo) and loud as hell but would like to try head.
The mk5 is out I think though.
I'm largely lost in this chat, but I will say that Mark's earlier mention of a Fab Tone being the business is accurate. I've had one for about 6 years now and it's still rocking strong![]()

I've had loads of great pedals over the years (even have one I got custom made for me), but you can't beat the sound of a good valve amp having the tits cranked off it.
Ahh, tinnitus![]()
The problem people have with Marshalls is that they cannae take it cranked to 10, where it sounds better than almost all the opposition.
Marshall JCM900 + THD Hotplate = heaven, even maybe as much as my Boogie.
I'm seriously fancying getting myself an old JMP single channel head or a good clone. That's the way forward for the sad old rock I like
Having said that, my Mesa sounds scary when you turn the dirt up. Actually too much dirt for any normal purpose.
Recorded, Channel 3 on Modern Voicing is just too insane.
I recorded a band last week, let them use it, and there was too much gain at just 2!
Channel 2 is awesome for recording though.
