If this was anyone else you'd be going, 'that's pure shite'.
Its still an ongoing thing, still got a lot of work to do.
Heres some pictures so far though...

'tis true though, it's just a bunch of pictures of guitar parts. Frankenstrat raises expectations that we'll see something monsterously good, not just Dismantlestrat. And the pics are taken way too close up. If you're going to keep a photo-log of the project then include more full shots to show overall progress, with close ups for things of interest. Just a thought.
Like Siberia, remission is a silent journey across no man’s land, and it’s not always easy to take it alone.'

Zip it Zippy. Why did you not just say it was pure shite instead of trying to be clever about it and ironically ending up sounding like a pure shite.
On the page with the pics, I can only see one pic and when I click the little icons at the bottom I get no response.
Is it an EVH guitar you're making? I think you need to up your game because from that pic it looks fucking dreadful, why are you using rusty parts ya tube?

That is looking very good, I hope you found the correct year of coin (a 1971 quarter if I remember correctly) What pickups have you gone for? And what are using as a reference source. Oh and remember it's a tone knob and not a volume knob.
Nice to see everyone knows what a Frankenstrat is.
What's the coin for? Brian May used a coin for a plectrum, can't think what EVH would have done with one.
Oh I can see the pictures now, was his guitar really that fucked up? It does look good in a pure 'it's the sound that matters' rock n roll way.
What is the coin DJ Barry mentioned stuck next to the tremolo?
What pups are you using? What make was the original strat and how did you age the neck?

The controls work fine, refresh page. Your flash may be playing up.
Rusty parts? They are brand new and I have relic'd them.
Yes its a 1971 Quarter, the pickup is handwound by a friend in North Carolina.
Reference source, I am using the $25,000 Fender Custom Shop Replica mostly.
Mine is not going to be 100% accurate but the vibe is there. I have already had it playing since xmas and it sounds amazing. Just doing all the finishing touches.
In the pictures I don't have the dead dummy single coil. I have it but its in a box just now as I work on other stuff. Still have to add lots of grime and dirt to the pickup cavity. The coin was used to support the early Floyd Rose protoype tremolos.
I wanted a Frankenstrat (i have 3 now) and well... I couldn't afford $25,000 so I set about to make something along same lines.
If people are gonna complain about the pics, the pics are deliberately took like that to show ageing work I have done. Still have lots to do though....
That's amazing you got them to look rusty. I had a look at Wikipedia and it sounds like he kept changing it cause people kept copying it lol. It's nice that he put on in Dimebag Darrell's coffin.
Did you do it as they say in Wikipedia, painting it black first then gaffer tape and then spraying it with red bike paint? It really is a nasty peice of work isn't it I mean it's lucky he was pretty good at guitar because he wasn't getting a job in Strung Out.
What do your other two monsters look like?
[
It started off bare. Painted black, striped it, painted white, striped again and painted red.
Wasn't a nasty piece of work at all, it was ingenious. The original Frankenstrat used on the first album is the same as the one he painted red. The black and white Frankenstrat was a sexy guitar I always thought. So I worked on one of those too. My other is a sort of Frankenstrat/5150 hybrid thing although I am contemplating starting another project using it for parts.
I agree it looks cool like the anti hero of guitars, I meant nasty in a purely lutheran way, like if you compared it to a high end PRS or Gibson.
I take it you're a heavy Van Halen fan? Is that why you're into MusicMan guitars?
Let's see pics of the 5150, did you use that during the 80s? Was he really the first person to dip a humbucker in wax to alleviate noise?
[
Well he had to do what was necessary to get what he wanted in a guitar.
It was virtually unheard of back then to have a humbucker in a strat. Total shock to the guitar world and thats before they get bewildered by his sound and playing. That guitar pretty much was responsible for the Superstrat and companies like Charvel/Jackson/Ibanez/Kramer hitting the big time. Not to mention he worked with Floyd Rose closely in the development of his new Vibrato system and who better to stress test it on the road?
Eddie really has nothing to do with Musicman guitars. I like Musicman guitars because they are incredible. Excellent workmanship, choice of woods, genius designs and many patents that other guitar companies just cannot touch. Their customer service is also the best of any guitar company. As for Eddie sure I like him (as a guitar player) but a lot of things he does I do not agree with and he there are times when i really dislike him but hey who cares.
I don't have a 5150, I never really cared for that guitar a great deal. I really feel that only reason Ed played Kramers was that in beginning only Kramer guitars could have a Floyd Rose and that Ed was also a silent partner in Kramer so it suited him financially to flaunt Kramer. Many believe the 5150 was a baretta... it sure as hell wasn't. His 5150 was built specifically (probably by Ed himself) from parts from Kramer... proper USA high quality parts before Kramer were secretly getting stuff made ESP in Asia.
I will post pics if u want but this guitar I haven't decided its fate... i'm probably gonna redo it totally.
