I bought mine there last year.
jamie's a great guy. he seems to be focusing a bit more on higher-end stuff these days though perhaps...
Mine was three grand but since I bought mine things have changed a LOT in the piano market; I honestly think eBay is your best shout, it's full of pretty damn good pianos for fuck all. (i'm the highest bidder on two Bechsteins right now

) but it's also full of total bangers that will never stay in tune so you need to be a bit careful...

and compare it every day with what's on ebay and you could easily end up with something pretty tastey. some general tips: (i've just edited out several pages of boring explanation, ask if you wanna know WHY i've said all this

)
* newer is better, since after a few decades, action parts wear out, animal-based glues fail, strings oxidize and sound dull etc. pianos do NOT improve with age like violins!
*
make sure you buy a piano that's "underdamped" - overdamped pianos tend to go out of tune very quickly. (they were usually made with pretty cabinets but rubbish insides, so don't be too swayed by how good an old piano looks)
* taller is better. above 120cm tall is ideal.
* german is best but MANY pianos are given german-sounding names despite being made in the far east. use the link i posted!
* try to avoid one that "needs tuning" (or any repairs!) - one that's currently in regualr use is a safer bet than one that isn't. (like buyng a car with a current MOT rather than one that "should pass no bother"

)
um... i could fill altnations server with this stuff so i'll stop for now.
