I did, got the frets stoned and they also put a shim in but it feels too high. To make matters worse, my mate just got a Tele (proper Fender) and he's complaining about the action being too low, he's not even getting any fret buzz, just too light he says

Take it back then if you not happy with their work, should be a warranty period.

Doubt he'll swap a Fender for this terrible copy. Yeah the warranty period was 7 days and I was too excited having it back that I didn't realise I wasn't happy till too late. We live and learn eh, most important lesson I think is don't buy cheap guitars online, cost me the same amount nearly to get the work done. And it's still shite! Lol pure raging. The sound on it is good though I don't think the tone controls are working unless they are extremely subtle. I did see an old blues guy on BBC4 the other night playing a broken up acoustic and he was getting an alright sound out of it so I shouldn't complain really

That's the lesson you've learned then... don't buy cheap, shite copies if you want something to sound good!

On a positive - if you get good on it, it will feel 10 times easier when you go to a decent guitar (whatever that is lol). Just as long as the action/fret height etc etc isn't detrimental to your technique.

In general the good thing about being a guitarist is that you will almost always use your own instrument, no matter where you are.

I got the action of my piano reset to be very heavy as I went to perform somewhere once and they had an old Steinway with super heavy action. I could hardly push a key in, never mind play a tune lol. That was a hard lesson learned that day Because of the action of my piano, regardless of what i'm playing on when I do play, the actual instrument isn't a problem, and most instruments play easily by comparison.

You may, to an extent, find the same thing with guitars. Lots of folk can shred away on an electric with super low action, but give them an old acoustic and they struggle to get a sound out of it when hammering on/pulling off.

So yeah, don't worry too much about it.

Conversely though, a great feeling guitar can inspire you to practise more, so it's a bit of an issue, depending on how you look at it.
