Nah you can do that but you need something like a POD or V-Amp. I have amp modelling on my multi-fx and I do record direct some times but I find these things just seem to lack some element. I don't think they have enough hi-end.
Erm guitar wise I used this and amp wise I used this |

| Re: Lets hear ya Of course I have tried a strat. I own a strat copy that is as good as any strat ive played to be honest.
Action is all down to how the guitar is setup.
Yes its a valve head from 1974 and that ain't no PRS. |

| Re: Lets hear ya amazing. you learn something new everyday. i never knew marshall were english. i thought american.
oh yeah sorry you're guitar is a musicman isn't it? is that what van halen uses? his first guitar was cool as. strat kinda shape but with the whammy bar also.
puzzles me why everyone says valve is best yet most amps are transistor. i want a mesa boogie! then i can play all my sting songs with hash in my pipe
what strat copy you got?
you still never answered my main question. why are you not in a band?

Dunno what Van Halen uses now though, he went from Kramer to Musicman to Peavey to some Charvel deal. Mind you by 'use' i mean endorsement. He could use anything and it wouldn't matter.
Your not much of a Hendrix fan if you didn't know Marshall were english then. Thats part of the whole story that and fact Marshall was his middle name and that kinda drew him towards them. |

There are loads of players out there, for example jazz who like solid state amps because of the sound they produce. They are getting better and better though what with Digital Modelling etc. Valves saturate a lot better than transistor amps, transistor tends to start clipping and producing a terrible sound. Depending on you definition of amp though, guitarists seem to go in opposite direction of technology. As they strive to find the loudest and cleanest representation of sound on the hifi front we want the amplifiers to do what they aint supposed to.
Its quite funny when you think about it but its sounds the bollocks so why interfere. Granted guitar amps are supposed to get 'dirty' but when you think of it the other way its humorous how Line6 have people to emulate how an amp 'defects'
I wouldn't have associated Sting with a Mesa Boogie but I ain't a Sting fan. Boogies are nice I like the Tri-Axis and the Mark 4. |

| Re: Lets hear ya i like you're style, the neo classical esque runs were a nice contrast to the smoothe blues ones at the start. And yeh i definately heard a bit of evh influence there at the start, theres one bit that sounds like the little bluesy opening lead to eruption, and one of your ascending runs sounds like something of fair warning ,cant put my finger on it.
Very nice overall, i like it.

| Re: Lets hear ya yeah it's true eruption is in there. i've not heard fair warning for years. there is one tune on it i remember liking but can't remember it. kinda gave up on van halen after hearing hendrix when i was a kid. still though, van halen is the best party guitarist ever.
so you saying you're not in a band because no one's asked you or you've never been into one enough to join? i just thought the level you play at you would meet loads of people on here who would like you in their band?
not me though. you've got loads to learn yet before i let you crimp my strings
