I would definitely recommend getting a vertical hood piercing. I got mine done 2 days ago and it's brilliant - not sore at all.

I think every girl should be born with a clit-hood piercing....it seems only right since its so damn good! Is uncomfortable if you try have sex within the week of gettin it done but you should wait 2 weeks anyway :s After that its ace

actual clit piercings aren't often performed for 2 reasons, the risks involved are quite hefty, and the second being, not many women's clits are actually big enough to pierce anyways, which is why people tend to get hood piercings or triangle piercings instead.
if she's worried about it that much just dont do it, or consider an alternative genital piercings such as inner labia or outer labia piercings, which also look really nice and carry SLIGHTLY lesser risks, but as with all piercings there is a risk involved.

Triangle is similar to a horizontal clit hood piercing, but instead of going infront of the clit, it's pierced behind. Although not many women are atotomically correct for this piercing
