| Re: Nipples yeh its up to the individual if they want pierced or not. AND also up to them to read up on the piercing there wanting to see if there are in precautions eg. breast feeding.
then again girls get pierced at the base of the nipple for the sake of breast feeding. Guys on the other hand get pierced alittle further out.

| Re: Nipples After experiencing the aftermath of having my tongue pierced, surely a young person seeing someone else go through that would be enough to put them off for life???
Then again I suppose there's the whole 'I'm more hardcore than you' thing!

| Re: Nipples i had my nipple and lip pierced when i was 15. was never asked for i'd or written consent. I also didn't know then that there was an age limit on these piercings then so it was partly my fault.
My nipple piercing hasn't affected my boob at tall.
But wait til you are 16 kiddies til you get your piercings

My mum didn't let me get any facial piercings until I moved out.
Tattoos are definitley and 'extreme' mod, as they cannot be removed easily. I'm not saying piercings/tattoos are hardcore, I'm suggesting that from a point of view of a whole different generation they are considered extreme. | That's a bit of a sweeping generalisation really and one that I find particularly offensive what with being both a teacher and a mother. In addition to this I have met a variety of folk from different generations who do not view modifications such as tattoos and piercings extreme at all.
Back to the nipple piercing thing. It would seem that in some places as long as you're over 16 and have parental consent then it's ok to get your nipples pierced. To be honest I find this completely unacceptable. There are so many loopholes here. How do you get parental consent? Does the parent have to be present or is a letter/phonecall ok? How do you know the person present is in fact the parent as opposed to an aunt or uncle etc? The only way to avoid any sort of mix up is not to pierce under 18's and always ask for ID if you're unsure of age.

. | see I don't actually view any of them as extreme at all. They're pretty simple and painless proceedures. I'd view more tongue splitting, penis seperation/splitting, implants, inserting saline into your balls to make them bigger for a few hours, suspension etc. as extreme.
That being said it doesn't lessen or take away from the fact piercings and tattoos should still require some bloody thought before you get them done and I really don't reckon you should be alowed your nipples pierced until your 18 for the reasons I said before. It's smart practice really and covers everyones backs. The girl that isn't completely developed at 14, and the piercer who's in no way at risk of piercing a minor if he checks ID. |

| Re: Nipples i've finally got my cousin to realise how bad it is for under agers to get pierced by telling her the dangers and said in front of my aunt (who i yelled at for allowing her the belly button piercing under 16) and told her to wait til shes 16 and ill take her to reputable studio...

the thing about sweeping generalisations is that there will be exceptions

| Send them my way then in that case!
I still get my mother shouting at me for tattoos/piercings and my mum was a punk in the 70's! Our teachers at school spent more time telling the kids to take their piercings out that they did preventing bullying. Infact my form tutor (going back a bit now!) kept about 8 pairs of earings of mine for 5 years that she'd taken off me.
My last Job (ASDA) wouldn't let me wear any piercings, but it was ok for certin people to have madonna ones in (maybe because they'd beat the crap out of them if they asked them to take them out) and this is when I only had my nose pierced.
Luckily, I now work at Wetherspoons, where I'm allowed 'ONE DISCREET FACIAL PIERCING' but I am also allowed to have my mohican, so that' pretty cool, but I find it safe to say, that where I've been brought up Piercings and Tattoos were naughty bad things that got you into a whole heap of trouble. Hence why I now have loads!

i've been told in the past that my piercings and stuff can be initialy intimidating but i'm a decent person and most people given a few seconds can see that im more than a few bits of metal.
people don't take offence to piercings usulay, they just use them as an easy way to take offence at you. |
