At times you thought the powerhouse couldn't get worse but since turning into Fury Murys it has.

What Ayr really needs, in my opinion, is a decent rock bar along the lines of The 13th Note or the old Solid Rock West. Last time I was down there I noticed a fair few alternative-looking people around town (a lot more than I ever saw when I lived there), so there definately is a market for a small rock boozer. Hell, I might even go down and visit my parents once in a while if there was a decent place to get drunk in town.

The 'rock' types who used to go to the powerhouse weren't there on thursdays thats for sure.So I don't know where people go in Ayr now.

true in a way. its used by many students during term time. its where all my friends would go. and most of the regulars i new were all young ish rock kids. you do get older people but they are the type that come in once in a while

Our shit club in Killie called Life is sadly better than Fury Murrys and thats not saying much.

yes. because there is more dance music on a saturday night because that is the kind of crowd they attract then. its the most expensive night so most rock/student people stay away. they do play the usual rock stuff. but more chart dance type stuff does appear.

It was pretty poor even back then, but on a good night you'd hear a few decent rock/metal/alternative songs and it was a world ahead from the rest of Ayr's abysmal ned-led nightlife (Babylon? Arcadia? ). Then it was taken over by Fury Murry's. Fury Murry's in Glasgow was well known for its alternative/rock nights - so things looked good for Ayr. Sadly, they decided to take the easy route and pander to the same scummy, brain-dead market as the rest of Ayr's nightclubs. Holy shit, I am glad I live in Glasgow now!!
