| [Heroes!] The Skinny loves Heroes This is what John Cavers wrote in this month's Beats section of The Skinny:
Striking similarities can be drawn between Heroes and the new Ladytron record, 'Witching Hour' being launched tonight ahead of its release. Both have a cult-like following, art school aesthetics and revel in similar music tastes - a strange mash of buzzsaw guitars, cold hard synths and glorious pop melodies. A-list bands seem to trust Heroes in launching their records with Garbage and Franz Ferdinand choosing the club to promote their recent efforts. This approach has attracted a strange crowd of loyal followers to these occasional parties and tonight bottle black Siouxsie Sioux fans rub shoulders with gay fashionistas and glamorous indie kids. All have made the effort to dress up, making the room seem like an impromptu fashion show.
The venue has again been chosen to fit the theme of the party, this time providing a tiny but well-proportioned space encrusted with Victoriana and exclusive Ladytron merchandise. which is shared out to the fans before the rush for the dancefloor. DJ and promoter Gregor Laird can't mix the records, but this all adds to the club's innocent charm and DIY aesthetic. A hidden gem, well worth seeking out.
