| Re: Musings Dev graduated from nursery today. it was very cute. Nursery gave all the kids presents of personalised pencil cases filled with personalised coloured pencils and stuff.

| Re: Musings I'm so I fear steam may start escaping from my ears. Eli's autism assessment was fri and today was his first day back at nursery. Told them his diagnosis was high level/function autism, which i'm fairly upbeat about. Room leader suggested I get him moved to a special needs nursery, and said that her and the nursery manager had already decided to hold Eli back in his roonm for a YEAR behind the other kids. RAGING!

RAGING! | Awww Li I'm so sorry, but at least you've got a definitive diagnosis. The nursery staff are absolutely out of order, they have no right to make a decision like that without consulting you. Do you have support staff now? What are they/Eli's specialists saying? |

| Re: Musings no need to be sorry - you've met Eli, he's a fab boy! things'll just be a different to what we expected, but cheers tootsie, i appreciate it.
Eli currently sees a speech therapist and an educational psychologist (she's term-time only though), but they're waiting for full report. I imagine it'll be much the same as what he's getting now. A year in August he'll be offered the Scottish Centre for Autism's Pre-school programme, which is one-on-one, two hours twice a week, on top of his nursery time.
We've been looking at a different nursery anyway; far too often I come in to find him strapped in his buggy and they say he's tired/just woken up at random times of the day, and I feel they just don't 'like' him, and see him as too much hard work. There's absolutely no need for him to go to a specialist nursery, in fact ed. psychologist says he doesn't need one!
Got appointment with council-run nursery reccommended by ed. psychologist sorted for next week

| Re: Musings My friend's little boy went to that same nursery and he's high level high functioning autistic too, I'll ask her how she got on after M's diagnosis (although I think he was possibly out of nursery by that point). Let me know how you get on with the council-run place, if it's not your cup of tea there's a couple of nurseries in Glasgow that I'd highly recommend.
Does Merv's work not have a nursery attached? |

| Re: Musings yeah, but it'll be ridiculously expensive i'd think. private school's nursery sounds too dear! It's Holmlea Day Nursery that's been recommended, so if you know anything about it, that'd be fab.
also, i'm going to have take two years out of course and either be stay-at-home mum or just work mornings if i can find something that fits. it'll be a bit weird!

My friend's little one went to Holmlea day nursery and she loved it, the nursery I was going to recommend was Careshare Heritage House in Pollokshields. They have an outstanding carer-child ratio, gorgeous nursery, lovely staff who are all qualified and very organised place. It is pretty expensive admittedly but there's loads you're entitled to. Eli'll be getting his funded place money soon too won't he? |

| Re: Musings can't do the uni thing, they won't let me do course part time, so two years oot for me rang holmlea, and they're full, so might have to like it or lump it with current nursery for a while yet. Eli's an october baby, so he'll get his funded place from jan. i never knew you had to wait for the term starting after they turn 3, i thought i'd get it in oct! never mind!
btw, has anyone else noticed that everything kiddie-related seems to be in the morning? Trying to find fun things for Eli and i to do together when we're not at work or nursery, but everything happens early on in the day.
