probably cos folk can't spell their breed correctly.
i don't personaly own it, a friend does, but it can't stand being on it's own for more than 10 seconds, it doesn't do as its told, the owner some times calls him 'dickhead' lol. heh, hmmmm. well they just can't stop jumping around can they? other spanials do this too?
i love the way they look though with their long floppy ears.

I thought it was just because they wore road jeans.![]()
You're welcome....I don't normally respond to anyone who refers to a dog as 'it', spells the breed wrong and also thinks calling the animal a 'dickhead' is amusing (and yes I am aware it's your mate who calls the spaniel a dickhead and not yourself). However, I just had to.

If it doesn't do as i't's told it probably hasn't been trained.
Hyperactive-yes. Most spaniels are. With a few acceptions. King Charles tend to be pretty mellow after the puppy stage, as are Clumber Spaniels.
My spaniel often gets called "Shitebag" if she's being particularly mental. I find this amusing. However I also call McCoy "Shitebag", so I don't find it particularly abusive.
I don't love you anymore. Goodbye - Alice Ayers
My guess is that the dog in question hasn't been trained properly. Puppies do have seemingly endless energy and need loads of excercise (epending on the breed, obviously), so not getting enough would result in some sort of 'mad dog'.
Surley spaniels are nutters because they are / were bred as game dogs so a desirable characteristic of them is to have a lot of energy so that they dont get tired when they are working? obviously its all a big game to them and are never gonna calm down just cause you told them to
Every spaniel Ive ever met is nuts, apart from my cousins king charles.
And calling a dog shitebag or whatever isnt funny. He will end up respoding to that name, and its always sad when you see a dog responding to derogatry terms, you wouldnt do it to a child would you? And if youve chosen to own it surley you should treat it as though you love it? Fine it doesnt undrstand what your saying, but still. Its the principle of the thing!
One of my boyfriends friends called their dog tons of awful names, so much so she forgot her real name, its sad![]()
Just shoot the bloody thing. Not a dog fan, esp those that cant behave.
A million lies to sell yourself is all you ever had
springers do tend to be mental. they need a lot of exercise, they are supposed to be used as gun dogs after all.
it takes a bit of effort but you can train em to be calmer. it helps if you walk/run then enough for them to expend a lot of energy.
and, apparently, my great grandfather had two springers, who responded to "hey you" and "get off the mat", cos thats all he evershouted at them.
there are some moments i could live in forever
