Odd cat behaviour

You know how cats tread their litter? Well, my cats do this fine, but they also do the same action around their food, Toffee-Crumble especially scratches at the wall as well, it's a wonder she hasn't burrowed through to the kitchen. Anybody know if there is a reason for them doing this by their food? I'm just curious really.

Re: Odd cat behaviour

Mine do that if they don't like what's been put down to them, like, if it just smells bad to them or if they just don't want it. Essentially they're trying to bury it (I've come home to find cat bows with whiskas super meat buried under the mail, socks and a carrier bag before :/)

Re: Odd cat behaviour

*thread hijack*
My boyfriend's cat's been acting bizzarely over the last few days as well. She's been really clingy ever since we got back from our holidays in Feb, which we just reckoned was her missing us (she's never been on her own for that long before), but just this week she's got much worse - she howls whenever Lee's not in the room, and starts scratching the doorframes if she knows he's behind a door that she can't open. She's also started mewing and scratching at any doors that she can't get into, even the cupboards, and the bathroom, which she's never been allowed in.
Last night we had friends over, and afterwards, she would not leave us alone - crawling over us, miaowing and pawing us whilst we're trying to sleep. When we put her out of the room, she started howling and scratching again (there's now a massive gouge out of the skirting. ). It's driving us up the wall, any advice would be helpful!

Just got her fixed. She's now a liberated, independent cat-girl.

She's just turned four, and she's been neutered.
We think we've worked out why she wanted into all the rooms and cupboards - the friends we had over also have a cat, who's in heat, and we think Meg could smell her, and got a bit freaked out. She doesn't play well with others, y'see.
