I fed a big spider like that to a venus fly trap years ago. Its legs were still sticking out and the next day when I touched one it started struggling again.
I kinda feel bad...
Also my dorm at Aberdeen Uni used to get them all the time cos the building was right next to some woods, so I'd always have to catch them. There was this one I was sure kept coming back into my room after I caught it and threw it out the window. It lost a leg the first few times I caught it, so I'd just count the legs.
We need pics of your spiders! 
(Here he is actually. Bad pic but you can kinda see he has 7 legs at this point.)
