| Re: Photo-A-Day III My grandmother LOVES her dog even though he's a holy terror. So, for christmas she's getting prints of him and some photostamps (USPS postage).
Caesar is a very uncooperative model. He knows just how to stand in the shade and or where he is back lit. Or, he just sits by the cars while I'm calling and whistling to him.
I did crop this one closer to his ear so he's no quite so centered, but I've not uploaded it yet.
Oh regal pup isn't he?
And that's pretty much all I got cause then he did this:
and stood with the sun to his back.
BAD DOG!
All with the Nikon D50 and Nikkor 70-200 F2.8 VR Grr, I shot in RAW and the conversion lost EXIF but it's something like f5.6 and 1/1000 for most of them. |

| Re: Photo-A-Day III That dog is awesome. I love the picture of him thoughtfully gazing off to the right. His wee fluffy feet are amazing as well, he looks like he has Berzerker boots on. HUSS!! |

Nothing particularly exciting about this one. The composition's a bit Jazzy Jeff, and it's generally just not terribly interesting. But! Histogram:
(From before I, er, fixed the exposure). There's a spike of red (berries), then a spike of green (sky), then a spike of blue (sky again), which makes it huge amounts of fun to play with in the channel mixer.
Swapping red for green:
Blue channel pasted as a new layer and set to lighten:

I'm a sucker for that "glowing fur" effect, mind. Works well with people-hair, too. Quote:

| Re: Photo-A-Day III Sometimes photoshop is a hindrance than a help. Knowing when to quit is advanced-user skills level.
Finally got around to finishing up with the fireworks pics from november that I posted one of earlier
- first is more or less what I intended while shooting, second is the crop I prefered once home, third is when I remove all the fireworks from a fireworks picture...
(I have no idea which I prefer this morning & to be honest "none" would be my choice of this trio!)
All three pics are the same frame - iso100; f11 @ 5secs (ish)
I'll keep to the rules & won't clog this thread (cos I'll make another one ) but more pics from the same bonfire night fireworks display are in my neon photo gallery |

| Re: Photo-A-Day III I like the cropped one but the smoke in the middle seems very artifacty. Not sure if its that or it actually did look like that
Doesnt detract from the image though |
