A possible extension to the Alt Camera Club?

How about bringing it into the forum as well. We already have Photo-A-Day and a multitude of hints and tips on here but to be honest they way it's been done over the years means its quite hard to find what you want when you want. For instance if I posted up a pic I took in Photo-A-Day and got some good feedback on it I wouldnt have a clue where to start looing for it when I forgot what it was I was supposed to do to fix/enhance the next pic I took.

I've been a member of http://digital-photography-school.com for a while but as a beginner I just dont have the time to get too immersed in it and to be honest some of the folk over there put me off with how good they are and generally won't post alot of what I take. On Alt Nation I don't have that fear.

One of the things the club was to help with was to help folk become better photographers. How about rejigging our photography forum so that rather than one huge unwieldy thread for posting pics for critisism we have a subforum where each pic gets a new thread. It should help with folk just posting pics to the Photo-A-Day thread that have no real idea what its for other than showing of pics and it would also give us the opportunity to dig out all the how-to guides and helpful hints and stick them in another subforum.

If as Shannow hinted at there were going to be assignments for the club then a subforum for that along with a new thread for each assignment would again make the place neater and easier to follow.

Whats do you guys think?

We have enough experienced and down right cracking photographers on here that are always up for helping out and this might just make it easier for the little folk.

Oh and a sticky with links to posts for that age old problem of "What am best cahmera?"

ooo i like this idea. i've got a terrible memory, and forgot to go to the 1st meeting, so having the assignments up would be ace

Right so the way im thinking it would be something like this

Existing photography forum (basically as is just now but with a sticky for what am best cahmera and any hints and tips moved to a sub forum)

Sub forums
Photo Club Assignments (Assuming Shannow and co want to use the forum like this otherwise we could just do the assignments anyway

Each new assignment gets it own thread and is basically treated like Photo-A-Day. If someone wants specific critique then they post it in the next subforum as well))
Critique My Shot (A more focused Photo-A-Day. New thread per photo/photos and constructive critisism actively encouraged. Idea being folk post up the small pics but if they want link to the bigger version so that other folk can have a go at helping with post processing if they want without having to use the tiny version in the actual thread)
Hint's, Tips 'n Tutorials (Could technically be done with a sticky but would require the mod keep it up to date where as a seperate sub forum keeps them tidy and anyone can post something useful theyve found.

In a nutshell use AltNation as a whiteboard and resource for the photo club but also allowing the non-glasgow based users or folk that just cant make the meet to take part.

I don't currently use the photography forum much, though I know I totally should. I've got an awful lot of stuff I'd like a bit of critique on, so I might well make use of these new improvements
