One of the things I'm hoping for is (for myself & others) to be inspired to go out and see & take new photos (cos like it's Summer and that's always a good time for it!) so aye mishelle go out and see if there is a really cool pic to be had of that lamp post.
And 2plus2isfive - one of the problems I've found online with photo stuff is that there is always someone who has a larger back catalogue of great pics and so it can be unfair to newer folks interested to use old stuff for topics like this. A good few of the comments in another thread suggested folk feel intimidated posting in the photo forum so I think we should help level the field a bit so I suggest only new pics.
It's also good for us sometimes to try meet the challenge outside of how we normally shoot things Quote:

| Re: Photography Challenge/Game #1 My first wee attempt, quick snap on the way back from the 24 hour shop last night - two street lights looking like monster eyes in the trees...?
When I took it I saw (after it being pointed out to me...) the face with the keep left sign as a mouth - I now want it as the nose and the fence to be the mouth...
Also one of the few pics I've ever taken that I think could be helped by MSPaint overdrawing, urmm am I allowed...? I did say "no rules"!!! |

It's something that everyone has to deal with even if they have top of the range cameras - some photos just can't be taken with the gear you have. It's always a pain and I sometimes think more than half of photography is learning what is and isn't possible and how to work around that! | Even with the phone set to highest resolution, best possible ISO etc. it's not brilliant, but you can get unintended (or, in the case of this picture from last night, intended) side-effects such are odd glare. I first got a picture like this a while back and now I take such images all the time because they make for pretty phone wallpapers.

| Re: Photography Challenge/Game #1 Playing about with my GR digital this evening. This lamp post is just outside my flat and it was such a pain to keep leaves and buildings out of the frame. I was probably a bit excessive with the contrast but I kinda like it.

| Re: Photography Challenge/Game #1 Well I spent about an hour in Gimp trying to paint out the wee specks of dirt on my sensor; I want a healing brush please.
That aside I gave it a wee touch of levels to darken the blacks and a mite of colour balancing; less than what it looks like though
There's a couple more to follow I took that I like but it will require photoshop to fix a couple of blemishes in them.
