If your favourite record of late happened to be Freak Like Me by the
Sugababes and you've been dancing to Being Nobody by Liberty X don't worry,
you haven't become a pop junkie unable to wait for your next Atomic Kitten
fix. You've simply succumbed to the latest music phenomenon - the bootleg,
remix, or mash-up.
With our finger on the musical pulse the QMU has spent all summer developing
a new Thursday night: Crush will be a cross- pollination of genres laced
with dark, dirty, hedonistic beats creating the ultimate in mashed up tracks
for your aural pleasure. Dj/ Producer and all round bootleg master, Mcsleazy
has been enlisted to facilitate this complex request.
McSleazy's spent 2005 on a high remixing Britney Spears, supporting The
Charlatans, and producing a single with MTV's Leki, "Breakin' Out".
Many will know the name McSleazy bootlegs- Franzie Boys (a Franz Ferdinand v Beastie Boys mashup EP) was a bestseller in HMV, and Alex Kapranos from the band admitted buying and loving it! Q Magazine declared it one of the top
100 best tunes of 2004.
You can hear mcsleazy every Saturday night on XFM Scotland from 10pm or if
you want to check out some of his remixes right now then go to either
http://www.myspace.com/mcsleazy or
www.mcsleazy.net or both!
