Re: Why?!

So a joke bid. There's been quite a few (which e-bay are cracking down on). I just find it really funny the number of people prepared to pay $2,000 for a pre-ordered PS3, which the guy selling it might not even get (given that the likelihood is that shops have sold more on pre-orders than they'll get from Sony).

Funnier is the realse in Japan where they had to go so far down the line it was ridiculous to find someone who spoke Japanese and wanted a PS3 for themselves, and not a homeless Chinese man paid to stand in line by one of three or four people to sell on e-bay!

Re: Why?!

I was almost tempted to try and pre-order a PS3 with the sole intention of flogging the bastard. If I can make a markup up even 300 squid for standing in a queue for a few hours, that's a good days work. As it happens, I couldn't be arsed. I'm tempted to see how much I can sell a picture of a PS3 for. I've heard they're going for decent money.

While we're on the subject of crazy game auctions this puts overpriced PS3s to shame

Jon, you are truely weak in the forces of Game geekery if that shocks you.

Of course, supply problems might be fixed by when ever the PS3 evetually launches in the EU. Hell might have frozen over as well though.

Also, tis worth checking out the Gaming Forum for good gaming gossip. I particularly recommend the Wii Megathread.

108 posts is a weak megathread. My home board's thread has over 1700

Re: Why?!

I saw an ebay page where some one immediately paid the asking price for:

Sony Playstation, 3 of them

At $900 dollars i only wish i'd thought of it first.

Re: Why?!

not as funny as the guy selling a "PS3" - a PS2 and a PS1 taped together - people actually wanted to have it - it was f**king duct tape!

Then again there's also a guy who has already made his PS3 into a grill - AND a working PS3 as well!

[sorry for lack of links but this comes under the 'funny things the boy showed me when I was trying to study and so not actually paying full attention'].

It wasn't a working PS3. He basically stripped out the PS3 case, put all the PS3 circuits in a modified PS2 case (which did work) and plonked a George Foreman in the PS3 case.

If you actually put Grill elements in a PS3, you'd be looking at a completely bricked system.

The PS1+2=3 was quite good, but only managed to sell because it was bigged up by Joystiq and Digg. The first time I saw it it had a $10 bid.
