what is certain it was it was started by now MD gordon Montgomery. I have heard that story and haven't heard from an irrefutable source that the inaugural stall was in town/ DeCourcys.

There was no vigil for Global Video because there was much raiding and POS sacrifice in honour of the mighty mac in each shop the administrators paid the staff to close up ;-)

At least we have some Fopp back now.

echo was fantastic. when they closed i picked up a tonne of obscure CDs and some not so obscure CDs without covers for a quid or two each. good times.

that being said, a huge number of the CDs i own came from fopp on byres road. not enough to warrant a vigil, but a large number nonetheless.

I go there all the time for the Black Cherry milkshakes and shabby decor. I even had mince and tatties post Optimo the other week there. Love it (the mince, not Optimo).

Also, this candlelit vigil thing totally pathetic. At the risk of sounding too obvious - get over it, it was a fucking cd store. (!)
