| Classic Rock Rev - 11th March
Do you want to know a Secret?
On Tues 11th March, the boys are back in town with the greatest gig in the sky. The creatures in the night really get us while our guitar gently weeps.
Woe to you o’ earth and sea… out of the shadows, brighter than a thousand suns, a brave new world is nobodies fault but ours. For the devil sends the beast with children of the grave to Paradise City.
Rock and Roll ain’t noise pollution, it’s creeping death breaking on through to the other side.
Call us sad lovers smokin’ on the water if you will. We’re stone cold crazy and out for blood and dead babies. Layla - welcome to our nightmare!
Rev? Hallowed be thy name. Entry price £2 members/£3 non-members. Usual entry policy applies. |

I see what you were trying here, but the end result is truly some incoherent shit. |

| Re: Classic Rock Rev - 11th March i can think of nothing worse. Well done Rev, you've finally alienated me. The 10% of music played I like and the 50 odd% I could tolerate obv won't be played at this.
Off to the Buff club with me then it is for a quid a drink. |

there's plenty of classic rock that's pretty good; if it's not to your taste fair enough, but suggesting there's something wrong with playing rock at a rock night is odd. Quote: |

| or the buff either obviously. so fair enough, you like some of the music at Rev and seperately some of the (completely different) music you'll hear at the buff club - doesn't this scream "personal preference" at you, which in turn might imply that there's nothing implicitly wrong with the themed Rev (and thus your evident scorn is misplaced)?

I go to rev even though some of it's not really my thing. It was always the general mush of stuff that made it ok and the fact there was always SOMETHING to dance to. Classic Rock rev just seems horribly specific I'm afraid and well, not somewhere I could go with a bunch of friends with mixed music tastes.
There's nothing wrong with playing rock at a rock night. a whole night of CLASSIC rock though, at a night when a lot of people don't specifically like Classic Rock though I can't say is an awesome plan.
The difference between this and the Cathouse doing 90s nights per se is the fact that you have the option to go to 90s night (which still encompasses more genres than classic 90s rock) or to hide upstairs on the regular catty floor.
I would argue that if it was just THEMED rev, ie dressing up like zombie night etc without the musical change then it's not going to deter as many folk as a speficic music rev night would.
I would not say that my scorn is misplaced, more than I could have articulated it better
and yes, I am just being a big grump.
The different music tastes of my mates though have totally ruled rev out as a feasible venue for tonights drinking. |

al. | I heard you had to be reminded that the other week when you were running about shouting 'this is my union!'
i echo your sentiment, i could do with being wasted instead of sticking feckin graphs in my labbook right now. :/ |
