No Remote - never heard of them? There's a reason for that. What a waste of time. Musically bland with a singer who can't decide between hero worshipping the Muse vocalist or the shortarse from Placebo. Honestly, sometimes I genuinely can't imagine what record companies are thinking. These guys must have got a fair amount of cash to write and record an album and have managed to produce something less pleasurable than listening to kittens being tortured.

I know I'm in trouble for taking ages to review this album (sorry Woolies!) but after listening to it the first time it was an absolute chore to put it on again. I genuinely can't think of a good thing to say about Shadow Boxing other than the CD will double as a nice coaster next time I have a cup of tea. Or a frisbee if I happen to be feeling slightly more energetic. The problem is I can't even work up some decent vitriol towards the album or the band. It doesn't even stand out as an example of...

Hahahaha. If there is such a thing as bad publicity (and I believe there is), then you can rest assured that sending out a whiny response to a review of your music indubitably falls under that category.

My favourite part was:

I think it's a pretty good & fair response to the review, as he says it's not a personal attack.

Most likely a misunderstanding of how altnation features albums (& EPs), we're a community site based on members & discussion not purely a music critique site, yes this piece doesn't go into detail about the album or the band - it is however a good and fair personal opinion piece.

Criticising the guy for replying to the review is pretty dumb though - read it, he's not being obnoxious or whinging about it - of course he has an opinion on his own music!
And I bet he's got a lot more of us checking out the MySpace link for a listen now anyways

I would never respond to someone slagging my band. It's just... uncool.

He's basically saying 'I would be fine with a bad review as long as the contents of said bad review were up to my discerning standards'.

Well, no, you wouldn't be. It's a bad review, you either deal with it or ignore it. You don't get good bad reviews.

See that's what I figured. The comedy in this whole thing will come when the review I submitted today is posted. Atleast, I found it mildly amusing....

I used to do it all the time! It was kind of what made being in such an easily-ridiculed band like Psyko Dalek fun for me. I wish I hadn't deleted our guestbook when the band split, that was full to the brim of me absolutely ripping apart suckas who tried to come on and step to us.

I'd probably enjoy reviewing this CD, but as amusing as that would be I'm not into the idea of spamming the front page of AltNation with review after review of, uhh, whatever the hell this band are called.
