| The Door To Hell Thirty-five years ago in Darvas, Uzbekistan some miners discovered an underground cavern full of natural gas.
So they did what all of us would want to do, and set it on fire.
It's still burning.

| Re: The Door To Hell Has anyone used that place as a film set yet? If not, why not?
Here, looks like the local tourism trade is catching on. Anyone for a fire safari?

Beautiful it may be, but one does wonder sometimes. | It's a guy thing.
I also thought 'This should be used in a film'. Or at least an episode of Dr Who. They could have saved a fortune on CGI for 'The Satan Pit'. |

| Re: The Door To Hell Shame it's lacking in mountainous qualities. It'd have been a shoo-in as Mount Doom in LOTR otherwise. |
