If you look at the second image on the Mail page, it looks like it's possibly been touched up. Look how the green bolt of lightning is in front of the nearby trees.

Lightning's bright enough to bleed around something as dark and slender as silhouetted bits of tree.

There's a fucking horrible HDR effort further down the page, though.
